Frank Katsinas, the 2001
IAA Champion, toured the vulnerable South Shore layout in an impressive 3-under par,
posting a nifty 67 to easily outdistance Mike Kraushaar's 71 for top
honors among the 150 IAA golfers participating. Hot and humid conditions without the
presence of wind, along with relatively soft receptive greens provided optimal scoring
conditions allowing some 21 golfers to post scores in the seventies, including Alan
Crawford's and Ken Garson's 73's.
Top ladies honors once again was captured by Rose Ceparich,
with a strong 90.
Skins valued at $110 each were won by Carlos Martinez (Birdie #7), Jim
Sapyta (Birdie #9), Ken Garson (Eagle #12), and Bob
Hinch (Bridie #16). Jim Carson's near miss ace on #5 (4 inches)
headed the list of closest to the pin winners. Mike Pollard, Phil
Misecko, and Terrry Homcho also garnered markmanship honors.
