SPRINGER CAPTURES MASTER's TITLE
defeats Olszewski in grueling 2-game final !

Bill Springer overcame the extremely difficult "Sport" bowling conditions and a very talented field of IAA bowlers to capture the fourth annual IAA Masters Invitational featuring the IAA's top league bowlers from the 2000-2001 season. Springer defeated Ed Olszewski in the championship match following Olszewski's dramatic victory over Bob Kammer Jr in the semi-finals. Springer dominated the field the entire day, opening with games of 212 and 257 to lead the five-game qualifying portion by a single pin over Dirk Nicksic. In addition to Springer, Nicksic, Olszewski, and Kammer, the top eight bowlers who advanced to the match-play round were Scott Hansen, Gary Logan, Jerry Michalak, and Craig Farmer. Hansen and Logan rounded out the top five. Springer's victory was worth $175 plus a championship jacket. Olszewski collected $125 for second.

The demanding "sport" condition was used to test the skills of the 17 participants and it's degree of difficulty was evident from the beginning. The average of the field entering the competion was 218.5, however, the field's average during the competition was 175.5, with Springer's 196.5 the best.
