TOP BOWLERS NAMED
Jerry Michalak Named Bowler of Year
|
 |
The 2002-03 version of the ALL-IAA Bowling team is a familiar one, as
three of the five bowlers have earned honors in previous years.
Jerry Michalak Sr highlights
the team as the 2002-03 IAA Bowler of the Year, edging both Bob Kammer Jr (2001-02 Bowler
of the Year) and ladies phenom Colleen Lidster. Michalak's dominating and balanced season
included top-3 finishes in the IAA's World Team Challenge, Master's Invitational, and the
Doubles Championships. In addition, Michalak was a member of the IAA's championship entry
in the Greater Calumet Area Bowling Association's (GCABA) coveted Proprietor's Cup
Championship. Michalak's Plaza IAA team in the Wednesday Men's league shared championship
honors. Though down somewhat this season, Michalak's strong 221 average ranked among the
IAA's best, and his 867 series (bowled in a non-IAA league) is the top series posted in
the GCABA this season. Surprisingly, this is Michalak's first selection to the All-IAA
Team. |
Bob Kammer Jr joins the squad for the
fifth consecutive season, following up on his record shattering 2001-02 campaign with one
nearly as impressive. Kammer Jr dominated IAA league competition with his 240.6 average,
while posting an IAA best 5 award scores (300, 300, 803, 801, 299). He was a member of
Kofoid's Proshop which placed 2nd and 3rd in the IAA's Team Challenge qualifiers. |
Colleen Lidster
has been selected for the second time. Lidster's season highlights included her third
career IAA 300 game, an IAA record setting series scores of 780 (and 776). Her 213 average
was as high amongst IAA ladies, while her Friday Night Mixed team - Snafu Crew - were
runaway champions. Lidster also rolled games of 299 and 298. |
Named to his 8th consecutive All-IAA team, Ricky
Woloszyn defines the term dominent veteran. The IAA's player of the decade
(1990 - 1999) continues to shine into 2003. Woloszyn joined Kammer on the Kofoid's Pro
Shop team placing 2nd and 3rd in the IAA Team Challenge qualifiers, was runnerup in the
IAA Master's, and was a member of the Proprietors Cup championship team. His 232.8 average
was third best during IAA competition. |
Ron Johnson Sr, completing his first full season
of IAA league competition, was named to the squad for the first time. Johnson, a highly
respected, talented bowler in northwest Indiana took the IAA by storm, rolling multiple
300's an 827 series, and was second in the average race at 233.3 . Johnson's 745 series
led the IAA Proprietors Cup team to the title and record-shattering 2,821 total. |
Congratulations!!!
