VAUTER EDGES SPRINGER FOR MEDALIST HONORS

SOUTH SHORE YIELDS BEST IAA SCORES OF YEAR

| Door Prizes | Summary | Team Results | Individual Results |

For the second time this season, Lou Vauter and Bill Springer carded 3-over par 73's, however, this time around, Vauter edged Springer on the first playoff hole to claim medalist honors at the IAA's fourth and final monthly qualifying outing. South Shore hosted the 109 IAA participants on August 14. Perennial IAA powers Dale Vechey and Chet Patterson posted 74's while Russ Kadisak and Bob DeCianni toured the vulnerable layout in 75 to round out the top five.

Highlighting the outings this season is the "Team Challenge" event that all players are eligible. Players play in their own preferred groups as in the past. After all players have posted scores, they are flighted into four groups. Teams are then assigned one player from each group using a computerized assignment program. Teams scores are then based on a combination of the low score, middle two scores, or low three scores for a given hole, dependent upon the specific hole. In addition, players can enter the optional Team side pot for $5. And, if they are the member of the lowest scoring team, they share the pot with the others on the team who are entered. If only one player has entered the optional side pot, they win the entire pot. If no player on the winning team is in the optional pot, the next low scoring team is given the pot provided they have participating players.

Championship team members for the July outing are Vauter, Dan Kritsch, Ed Connell, and Lorrie Lohse. As members of the winning team, each player will be awarded a paid entry into the September Championships at The Brassie (provided they play in two monthly events). Vauter, Kritsch, and Connell will share the $300 team prize fund as they all paid the $5 entry fee in the optional side event.

The IAA championships are slated for September 18th at the Brassie in Chesterton Indiana. Golfers who participated in two monthly outings are eligible. IAA Golf Director Mike Kraushaar will be contacting those eligible. If you do not hear from Kraushaar by September 1 and believe you are eligible, contact him at 219 988-3493.
